What’s New

Updates, fixes, and compatibility notes for Neon Trail.

Version 1.3.0

  • Gestures. Draw a letter with the cursor to open an app, take a screenshot, mute, quit the current app, run a Shortcut, and more. Choose what each letter does in the new Gestures tab, and teach Neon Trail your own handwriting for any letter.
  • A redesigned menu. A smaller, single-column menu with a live preview of your trail. The selected preset now colors the whole menu, and less-used settings sit under Motion & effects.
  • New Linger setting. Choose how long the trail stays on screen before it fades, separately from its length.
  • Smoother trails. Long trails no longer wobble, slow movements draw cleanly, and the tail fades out instead of being cut off.
  • Softer High contrast. High contrast is now a smooth, matte trail with a soft outline, without the beveled edges.
  • Reset Trail Settings now restores the original width.

Some gesture actions (Press keys, Take screenshot, and Lock screen) need Accessibility access. Neon Trail asks the first time you use one. If an action stops working after an update, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, remove Neon Trail, and add it again.
